Alpines
Alpine troughs are a great low maintenance addition to any garden, they need minimum care and water through the season and will reward you with colour in spring and summer and interest throughout the year.
Alpines generally don’t mind the cold, after all the definition of an alpine is a plant that grows at high altitude, above the tree line. Alpine plants are available from February with a good range including the ever popular Aubertia, Saxifraga, Phlox subulata and Lithodora diffusa. These are all good options for a sunny spot; alpines need good drainage so adding horticultural grit to the planying hole is beneficial.
If you haven’t got the right spot in your garden create a miniature alpine garden in a shallow container, we have a great range of suitable troughs and pots in stock. Fill your container with compost and add a few handfuls of horticultural grit and then add your plants. We have a good range of plants available and we are always happy to give advice to help you make your choice.
